Brad
The AWF is in no position to fund a team to the World University Championships.
However should any athlete wish to participate, the AWF will endorse their nomination provided they have
reached the criteria for selection.

Hi Peter,

Mike Keelan is taking a break from coaching for the next while so I am now again helping out Deborah till he
want to start coaching again.

Firstly, Deborah is VERY keen to compete at the World University Championships in Turkey this year. I also
believe Damon Kelly is planning on competing there as well. Therefore they are keen to find out what the AWF's
plans are for these Championships. If a team will be sent, if there is any funding available, if no to both these, then
will the Championship be opened up to all eligible competitors the same as it was last year. Therefore, they are
also VERY keen to gain some insight into the time frame that the AWF will be working to. In order to organise
fund raising through their respective universities, booking of flights to gain the cheapest available, if they will be
responsible for their own travel.

Any information that can be forth coming would be of great benefit as the Championships are fast approaching
and preparations would need to be started very soon. After the highly successful results from the Melbourne
Commonwealth Games it would be a shame it Australia did not take advantage of the determination of these two
fine athletes and allow them every opportunity to again represent Australia on the International stage where they
would be very competitive.

Any assistance or information would be great fully accepted.

Hi Brad,

Many thanks for your email with regard to the 2006 World University Championships.

At present; I am unable to provide you with any information as I am still being briefed on activities of the
Federation during my absence. As you know, I have been at M2006 for the last 15 months and this is my first
week back!

Notwithstanding the above; I will definitely ensure a more detailed email is forwarded to you in the coming weeks.

Cheers, MC

Hi Matthew,
I am seeking information on the 2006 World University Championships in Izmir Turkey on behalf of Deborah
Lovely. I am currently assisting Deborah while Mike takes a break from coaching.

Deborah is very keen to compete at these championships and we understand that there is a high likely hood of the
AWF not being in a position to assist the athletes financially but it would be of great benefit if we could access any
information coming from the IWF or the organising committee.

We have already sourced possible flights and are currently seeking information on the nomination costs (is the
AWF able to meet this expense) and accommodation costing for the championships.

If as expected the AWF are unable to assist with the funding of a team or athletes to these championships, I am
prepared to meet my own cost to assist Deborah and any other Australian Lifter wishing to compete in Izmir.
I believe my formal qualifications would be suitable for this position as I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Leisure
Management (Sports Management) and I am in my final year of a Bachelor of Applied Science in Human
Movements which will qualify me as an Exercise Physiologist. As well as, as you know, having coached Deborah
up to the Manchester Commonwealth Games.

Any information would be gratefully accepted and appreciated.
